Breast pump fun!

So, you’ve got a little time on your hands while attached to your breast pump…what to do?!

I don’t think I can even count the total hours I’ve spent pumping after having three kids.  The rhythmic sound the pump starts to grind on your nerves and you start hearing words or phrases made up in the sound.  That’s when I knew I had to find things to do or I would go crazy.

I came up with some great things that eventually made the time fly by, almost too fast…would add an extra few minutes just so I could finish up what I was doing.

1) Read a book series..I loved Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money, etc series.  They are light, easy reads, that will have you laughing out loud.  And humor is a good thing during this phase of motherhood…actually it is in every phase!

2) Catch up on email or Facebook.  I am sure that many a friend hit “HIDE” on my posts after getting sick of getting the hourly update on my baby pooping, eating, and cute moments.

3) Load photos to the web and then get them out to family via email and the great online printing options.  I loved using Wal-Mart's photo option.  I would send over a load of photos and then go pick them up the next day on a baby and mommy shopping trip.

4) Update the baby book…or scrap book the other kids that you’ve fallen behind on.  I was able to get caught up on child #1 while pumping for #2...and got “some” of #2 done while pumping for #3...but #3 is out of luck!  If you have someone that is good at scrapbooks - send her my way!

5) Give your mom or girlfriends a call…they just have to get over the “whoosh” of the pumping sound but it’s a great time to catch up.

6) Watch TV...Hulu or YouTube videos.  A good chance to catch up on your missed shows.

There are a lot of things that just don’t work well.  I tried baking cookies but boobs attachments got in the way, and tried cleaning the house, but too hard to bend over or carry things around.

I am sure there are lots of other GREAT suggestions…help a new mother out – post your suggestions!
