I wanted to share this story that I recently heard from a mother…
I met an American mother that gave birth in Iraq during the war. She was in an Iraqi hospital and feeling lost. She was feeling overwhelmed, not because she was in a war zone but because she was having trouble breastfeeding. A female doctor asked her what was wrong and she explained her story. The doctor looked at her and then said in a nice straight forward way, “Look, there is no formula here – you’re the mother, you need to take charge and make it work.” She told me it was that advice that got her moving in the right direction. When you don’t have a choice, you make it work.
